Nutrition Therapy
My treatment philosophy
I practice from a non-diet, weight-inclusive treatment philosophy and draw from the Health at Every Size (HAES®) framework. I firmly believe (and the research shows!) that all foods can fit in a healthy diet that takes into account mental and physical health.
There are countless structural and systemic issues that affect our relationship with our bodies and food including fatphobia, transphobia, cis/heteronormativity, racism, abilism, and more. This is one reason individualization of care is so important! You are not a "diagnosis" to be shoved into a cookie cutter mold. We will work together to tailor your treatment, taking into account your goals and your lived experiences.
So do you have to be 100% ready and committed to recovery in order to benefit from nutrition therapy? Absolutely not! I work with clients wherever they are at in their food journey. So bring your ambivalence, grief, fear, etc. to the session. It’s all part of healing.
Many of my clients tell me that nutrition therapy is so much less scary than they expected. Nothing you say will surprise me or make me judge you. You can expect loads of validation, fun facts and education, tips and tricks, humor, a listening ear, and unconditional support.
I look forward to working with you!
